Internal communication from the perspective of Generation Z and its ICT support

Abstract:

Generace Z vyrůstá během rychlého rozvoje digitálních a informačních technologií. Od jejich nástupu do práce se očekávají velké změny v pracovním přístupu oproti generacím předchozím. K tomu pandemie koronaviru COVID-19 nezanechala čas na rozmyšlenou a vynutila společnosti přejit na home office se vzdálenou komunikaci přes ITC systémy. Proto je nezbytné prozkoumat a nabídnout podmínky práci, které ocení každá z generací současně pracujících či vstupujících na trh práce, tj. X, Y a Z, aby udržet efektivní fungování společnosti. Však daná práce se zaměřuje jen na nejmíň prozkoumanou generaci Z, která právě nastupuje na trh práce a nevíme jaké osekávání má daná generace. Tento článek analyzuje postoje generace Z (nar. 1995-2010), jejich závislost na technologiích, sociálních sítích a na základě dané informaci zjišťuje možný vliv teto generace na interní komunikaci ve společnosti. Kvůli pandemii koronaviru za sebou mají zkušenost studovat a pracovat na dálku a díky tomu můžeme prozkoumat i jejich postoj ke vzdálené interní komunikaci. Aby odpovědět na tuto otázku, byl proveden průzkum generace Z a Y pomoci dotazníku publikovaném na sociální síti Facebook, kterého se zúčastnilo 697 lidí. Získané výsledky ukázaly odlišnosti dvou zkoumaných generaci Z a Y jak při komunikaci v běžném životě, tak v preferovaných způsobech komunikace v práci. Dalším zajímavým zjištěním je neochota obou generace používat sociální sítě pro firemní komunikaci (23% - Z, 37% - Y). Výsledky také odhalily, že generace Z mají spíš negativní postoj ke vzdálené práce a svých zkušenostech v době COVID-19.

Abstract:

Generation Z is growing during the rapid development of digital and information technologies. Since they started work, large changes in the work approach are expected compared to previous generations. In addition, the coronavirus pandemic COVID-19 did not leave time for reflection and forced the company to move to a home office with remote communication via ITC systems. Therefore, it is necessary to explore and offer working conditions that will be appreciated by each of the generations working or entering the labor market at the same time, ie X, Y and Z, in order to maintain the effective functioning of society. However, the given work focuses only on the least researched generation Z, which is just entering the labor market and we do not know what truncation the given generation has. This article analyzes the attitudes of the Z generation (born 1995-2010), their dependence on technologies, social networks and, based on the given information, finds out the possible influence of this generation on internal communication in society. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, they have experienced the experience of studying and working remotely, and thanks to this we can also examine their attitude to remote internal communication. To answer this question, a Z and Y generation survey was conducted using a questionnaire published on the social network Facebook, which was attended by 697 people. The obtained results showed the differences of the two studied generations Z and Y both in communication in everyday life and in the preferred ways of communication at work. Another interesting finding is the reluctance of both generations to use social networks for corporate communication (23% - Z, 37% - Y). The results also revealed that Generation Z had a rather negative attitude towards remote work and their experience at the time of COVID-19.
