Impact of merger announcement on stock return of selected company

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce ,,Vliv ohlášení fúze na cenový vývoj akcií dané společnosti” je pomocí metodologie event study analyzovat dopad veřejného ohlášení fúze na vývoj cen akcií. V první kapitole práce je stručně shrnuta teoretická stránka fúzí a akvizic spolu s jejími metodami hodnocení. Druhá kapitola charakterizuje tržní metodu hodnocení event study s patřičnými teoretickými a ekonometrickými náležitostmi. Přechodem do poslední kapitoly budou představeny datové soubory a teoretický kontext fúze, která byla podrobena analýze. V samotné praktické části byla aplikací teoretických poznatků provedena regresní analýza pro výpočet abnormálních výnosů a jejich patřičných modifikací. Následně proběhlo vyhodnocení a komparace dosažených výsledků na základě statistické významnosti.

Abstract:

The aim of the bachelor thesis: ‘’Impact of merger announcement on stock return of selected company’’ is to analyze the impact of a public merger announcement on stock prices based on the methodology of the event study. The first chapter is briefly summarized the theoretical side of mergers and acquisitions along with its evaluation methods. The second chapter characterizes the market evaluating method event study with its appropriate theoretical and econometrics requirements. In the transition to the last chapter, the data sets and theoretical context of the analyzed merger will be presented. In the practical part itself, a regression analysis was performed using theoretical knowledge to calculate abnormal returns and their appropriate modifications. Thereupon, the achieved results were evaluated and compared based on statistical significance.
