Education of pregnant woman with gestational diabetes mellitus disease

Abstract:

Úvod: Gestační diabetes mellitus je onemocnění, které v české republice postihuje 2-3% těhotných žen (Čech 2006, s. 291). Plod, jehož matka je postižena tímto onemocněním, je ohrožen mnoha vážnými patologickými stavy a je označen jako rizikové dítě. Adekvátní informovanost odborných zdravotníků, vzdělávání, změny životního stylu a včasná diagnostika jsou základními předpoklady úspěšné léčby a účinné prevence komplikací. Cíl: Cílem bakalářské práce bylo navrhnout a realizovat edukační proces pro pacientku s onemocněním gestační diabetes mellitus pro zvýšení jejího zdravotního uvědomění a předcházení vzniku nežádoucích komplikací, které s sebou neléčený gestační diabetes mellitus přináší. Metodika: Jako metodu jsme použily edukační proces, kterým jsme chtěly dosáhnout zlepšení nedostatečných vědomostí zručností a postojů. Na posouzení deficitu vědomostí byla použita anamnéza, vstupní test, rozhovor a pomocí formuláře jsme posoudily schopnost učit se. Výsledky: Analýzou výše uvedených metod jsme u pacientky zjistily deficit vědomostí o onemocnění gestační diabetes mellitus v oblasti podstaty onemocnění, komplikací pro matku a plod, dietoterapie, správného životního stylu a selfmonitoringu glykémie. Diskuze: Edukace pomáhá pacientkám porozumět svému onemocnění a adaptovat se na něj. Edukace pozitivně ovlivňuje průběh onemocnění a vývoj dítěte a minimalizuje vznik komplikací. Závěr: Edukace je důležitou součástí celého léčebného a ošetřovatelského procesu, která nám napomáhá v oblasti léčby a v prevenci možných komplikací.

Abstract:

Introduction: Gestational diabetes mellitus is disease which attacks 2-3% of pregnant women in the Czech Republic (Čech 2006, s. 291). The fetus of mother who is affected by this disease is endangered in many serious pathological states and is identified as a risk child. Adequate information by skilled medic, education, lifestyle changes and early diagnosis are essential conditions to successfull treatment and effective prevention of complications. Aim: Aim of this bachelor theses was to suggest and to put into effect an educational process for woman with gestational diabetes mellitus disease. It is centred on increases of health awareness and prevention of undesirable complications which appear from untreated gestational diabetes mellitus desease. Methodology: As a method we used an educational process (case), wich was supposed to help us to correct her unsatisfactory knowlenge, skills and positions about the gestational diabetes mellitus desease. We used anamnesis, entrance test, and interview to assess the knowledge deficit and considered the ability to learn by using a form/forms. Results: By analysis above mentioned methods we have founds out the patient lack of information about gestational diabetes mellitus desease, its principle disease, komplication for mother and baby, dietoteraphy, healthy lifestyle and selfmonitoring of glycemia. Discussion: Education helps patients to understand better their disease and adapt to it. Education positively influences the course of the disease and child development and minimalizes occurrance of complications. Conlusion: Education is important part of the whole medication and nurse process that helps us in the area of treatment and prevention of possible complications.
