Railway Services - Opportunities and Prospects

Abstract:

Železnice je dopravní systém pro 21. století. V některých státech to tak vnímá většina lidí. A hlavně i státní správa. V jiných musí dráhy o své místo na slunci ještě bojovat. Česká republika dle mého názoru patří mezi ty druhé. Vlastně je na tom skoro nejhůře ze všech zemí střední Evropy. Řeší v naší zemi vše jen otázka financování veřejné dopravy? Jestliže se nám podaří posílit financování, můžeme naplňovat vizi o rychlejší obnově a rozvoji tratí a vozového parku? S tím spojen posun kvality v kategoriích jako je komfort a rychlost přepravy? A následně vyšší kvalita služeb a benefitů pro cestující? Je prostor pro změny i bez peněz? Co otázka koordinace, přesnosti, pečlivosti, interní komunikace a svědomitosti? Je či není důvod pro České dráhy obávat se liberalizace a konkurence? Jaká je konkurenceschopnost železnice?

Abstract:

Railways are a transport system for the 21st century. In some countries most people are aware of this fact, the state administration in particular perceives it in this way. In other countries railways must still struggle for their recognition. In my opinion, the Czech Republic belongs to the latter category. As a matter of fact, our country's situation in terms of railways ranks among the worst of the middle European countries. Can public transport financing in our country solve all the problems? If financing were increased, could a vision of faster modernization and development of tracks and equipment be fulfilled? Would an improvement in terms of comfort and speed of transport be also seen, and as a result, would customer service and benefits for travelers improve as well? Are there any opportunities for changes even without adequate finances, i.e., should questions of coordination, accuracy, thoroughness, internal communication and consciousness be considered? Is there any reason for the Czech Railways to fear deregulation and competition? What is their ability to compete?
