Family Entrepreneurship - Opportunities and Intergenerational Challenges

Abstract:

Předložená disertační práce se zabývá problematikou rodinného podnikání a její aplikací v podnikatelském prostředí především v České republice. Teoretická východiska práce vymezují základní pojem rodinný podnik, rodinná farma, rodinné podnikání a jeho specifika oproti podnikům nerodinného typu. Analyzují přístupy zahraničních autorů k definici rodinného podnikání, zmiňují historický vývoj a současnost rodinného podnikání v České republice, uvádějí kroky osob zainteresovaných na této problematice v ČR vedoucí k ukotvení definice rodinného podnikání v právním prostředí ČR. Dále jsou představeny zásady strategického řízení rodinného podnikání, jsou interpretovány rodinné a podnikatelské faktory ovlivňujících strategické rozhodování. Je zmíněn význam paralelního procesu strategického řízení a plánování v rodinném podniku, který vyúsťuje do řízení nástupnické strategie. Strategie nástupnictví je chápána jako vícestupňový postup, který začíná dlouho před tím, než potenciální nástupce vstoupí do řízení rodinného podniku. Empirická část práce shrnuje a vyhodnocuje poznatky získané primárním kvantitativním i kvalitativním výzkumem. Stěžejním bodem disertační práce je kvantitativní výzkum autorky, který prostřednictvím světově uznávaného modelu autorů Astrachan, Klein, Smyrnios (2002) vyhodnocuje míru rodinného vlivu respondentů zastupujících rodinné podniky v ČR. Pro řešení toho, zda je možno podnik považovat za rodinný, je v modelu F-PEC hodnocen rozsah a kvalita vlivu rodiny prostřednictvím měření třech parametrů, kterými je síla/moc/vlastnictví, zkušenost a kultura. K detailnějšímu pohledu na řízení nástupnické strategie rodinných podniků v ČR přispívá kvalitativní výzkum autorky realizovaný metodou kulatých stolů, případových studií a zobecněním diskusních příspěvků generace zakladatelů i generace nástupníků. Ze závěrů práce vyplývají doporučení pro praktickou implementaci strategického řízení a řízení nástupnické strategie rodinných podniků v českých podmínkách.

Abstract:

The present dissertation focuses on the issues of family entrepreneurship and their application in the business environment, primarily in the Czech Republic. The theoretical section of the paper defines the fundamental concept of a family business, family farm, family entrepreneurship and its specifics compared to non-family businesses. It analyses the approaches of foreign authors to the definition of family entrepreneurship, mentions the historical developments and presence of family entrepreneurship in the Czech Republic, presents steps of persons interested in such issues in the Czech Republic leading to the anchoring of the definition of family entrepreneurship in the legal environment of the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the paper presents the principles of strategic management of family entrepreneurship, providing an interpretation of family and business factors influencing strategic decision-making. The importance of the parallel process of strategic management and planning in a family business, which results in the management of the succession strategy, is also mentioned. Succession strategy is seen as a multi-step process that begins long before the potential successor enters the management of the family business. The research section of the paper summarises and evaluates the information and data obtained through primary quantitative and qualitative research. The main point of the dissertation is the author's quantitative research which assesses the degree of family influence among respondents representing family businesses in the Czech Republic using the globally recognised model of Klein, Astrachan, and Smyrnios (2002). To answer the question whether a business can be considered a family business, the scope and quality of the family influence are assessed using the F-PEC model by measuring three parameters - power/ownership, experience, and culture. The author's qualitative research conducted using the method of round tables, case studies and generalisation of the discussions of the generation of founders and the generation of successors contributed to a more detailed view of the succession management strategies of family businesses in the Czech Republic. The conclusion provides recommendations for the practical implementation of strategic management and management of succession strategy of family businesses in Czech conditions.
