Evaluation and comparison of text books of geography for higher education

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se věnuje problematice učebnic. V práci jsou porovnávány vybrané učebnice zeměpisu od Nakladatelství České geografické společnosti a od SPN pedagogického nakladatelství. Vybrané učebnice byly posuzovány na základě celkové didaktické vybavenosti a na základě obtížnosti textu. Zvolený metodický aparát je v práci detailně popsán. Další metodou použitou v této práci bylo dotazníkové šetření, které proběhlo mezi učiteli na gymnáziích v Plzeňském kraji. Provedený průzkum měl za úkol zjistit, které učebnice zeměpisu učitelé používají, k jakým činnostem jim nejčastěji slouží a jak zvolené učebnice sami hodnotí. Poslední část práce si kladla za cíl ověřit dvě vybrané učebnice zeměpisu pro SŠ v praxi. Žáci dvou paralelních tříd byli vyučováni ze dvou učebnic od různých nakladatelství věnujících se stejnému tématu. Žáci absolvovali závěrečný test, v němž bylo zjišťováno, ze které učebnice si látku lépe osvojili.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the issue of textbooks. Selected geography textbooks published by Czech Geographical Society and by SPN (National Educational Publishing) are compared in the study and judged according to their didactic qualities and the difficulty of their content. In detail, the chosen methodological apparatus is described inside. Another method used in this theses is a questionnaire survey, conducted among teachers from secondary schools in the Pilsen region. The aim of the research was to determine which textbooks of geography are used by the teachers, what activities they most often use them for, and how do they evaluate the chosen textbooks themselves. The last part of the theses aimed to verify two selected geography textbooks for secondary schools in practice. Students of two parallel classes were taught the same topic, using two textbooks from different publishers. The students then undergone an final test, designed to measure which of the two textbooks conveyed the subject matter better.
