Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá reprezentací Afroameričanů v superhrdinských komiksech a způsobem, jakým tyto komiksy odrážejí životy Afroameričanů. Jejím cílem je ukázat na příkladu jedné postavy, Lukea Cage, jak se zobrazení afroamerických postav během času měnilo. První část se zabývá obecnou historií černých superhrdinů v komiksech vydavatelství Marvel, jak byli tito hrdinové zobrazování a jak se jejich obraz během času změnil. Tři kapitoly v druhé části práce obsahují analýzu různých variací postavy Lukea Cage: původní sérii v 70. letech, moderní verzi v 21. století a televizní adaptaci. V závěrečné části jsou výsledky této analýzy vloženy do kontextu obecné historie černých superhrdinů a porovnány.

Abstract:

This Bachelor’s thesis deals with the black representation in superhero comics and how they reflect African American experience. Its aim is to demonstrate on the example of a single character, Luke Cage, how the portrayal of African American characters changes in different periods. The first part covers the general history of black superheroes in Marvel comics, how they were portrayed and how this portrayal changed over the time. The second part in three chapters analyzes the variations of the character Luke Cage: the original run in the 1970s, the modern version from the 2000s and the television adaptation. In the final part, the results of this analysis are put in the context of and compared with the general history of black superheroes.
