The transformation of Saudi Arabia's educational system under the Vision 2030 project

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce zhodnocuje jednotlivé změny uskutečněné v rámci vzdělávacího systému v Saúdské Arábii od spuštění ambiciózního projektu Vision 2030. Práce se zaměřuje na obecnou charakteristiku Saúdské Arábie a faktory, které vedly k potřebě diverzifikace ekonomiky a snížení její závislosti na ropě. Dále popisuje implementované programy, jejichž cílem je zajistit aktivní příjmy plynoucí i z ostatních odvětví než pouze z ropného sektoru. Saúdská Arábie vyvíjí velké úsilí v rámci podpory místního vzdělávání, zejména s ohledem na podíl státního rozpočtu, který je investován do vzdělávacího sektoru. Nicméně stále zde přetrvává nesoulad mezi nabídkou, kterou představují absolventi, a poptávkou na trhu práce po odborných profesích v oblastech nezbytných pro diverzifikaci saúdské ekonomiky.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis evaluates the individual changes made in the education system in Saudi Arabia since the launch of the ambitious Vision 2030 project. The work focuses on the general characteristics of Saudi Arabia and the factors that led to the need for diversification of the economy and reducing its dependence on oil. It also describes the implemented programs, whose goal is to ensure active income from sectors other than just the oil industry. Saudi Arabia is making great efforts in supporting local education, especially with regard to the share of the state budget invested in the education sector. However, there is still a mismatch between the supply of graduates and the demand for skilled professionals in areas necessary for the diversification of the Saudi economy.
