Cílem této bakalářské práce je dokázat že hlavní postavy novel Kdo chytá v žitě a The Smell of Apples jsou ovlivněny represivním prostředím v němž žijí. První část práce popisuje trauma v historickém kontextu poválečné Ameriky a apartheidu. Druhá část obsahuje analýzu postav Holdena a Marnuse. Abstract:
The aim of this thesis is to prove that the main characters of the novels The Catcher in the Rye and The Smell of Apples are influenced by an oppressive environment in which they live. The first part of the thesis describes trauma in the historical context of post-war America and apartheid. The second part consists of an analysis of the characters, Holden and Marnus.
