Teaching Spanish language vocabulary with authentic materials

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with using vocabulary and authentic materials in Spanish classes as a foreign language. The main aim is to propose exercises and activities for fixing vocabulary of high school students whom are on level of A1/A2 while using different authentic materials and to prove that their usage is appropriate even on these referential levels of language. The first part of thesis deals teaching methods of foreign languages the evolution of teaching of Spanish language and the introduction of Common European Framework of Reference including common levels and language competencies. Further attention is paid to vocabulary, its role in teaching and learning foreign language, authentic materials, their types and ways of usage in lessons. In the second part of the thesis, the worksheets for teachers are presented, while the worksheets for students are included in the annex.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá výukou slovní zásoby a užitím autentického materiálu v hodinách španělštiny jako cizího jazyka. Cílem je navrhnout cvičení a aktivity na upevnění slovní zásoby pro studenty středních škol na úrovni A1/ A2 a vhodně jimi doplnit různé druhy autentických materiálů, a tak prokázat, že užití těchto materiálů je vhodné i na uvedených referenčních úrovních jazyka. První část práce se věnuje výukovým metodám cizích jazyků, vývoji výuky španělského jazyka, představení Společného evropského referenčního rámce pro jazyky včetně společných úrovní a jazykových kompetencí. Dále je věnována pozornost slovní zásobě, její roli ve výuce a studiu cizího jazyka, a autentickým materiálům, jejich druhům a způsobu uplatnění v hodinách. V druhé části práce jsou představeny vytvořené pracovní listy pro učitele, zatímco listy pro studenty jsou obsaženy v příloze.
