Waste prevention in the Capital City of Prague

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce je řešena v kontextu odpadového hospodářství. Tato práce pojednává o odpadovém hospodářství v Evropské unii, České republice, hl. m. Praze a zabývá se funkcí sběrných dvorů. Cílem této práce je zhodnocení provozů sběrných dvorů provozovaných v hl. m. Praze, se zaměřením na společnost Pražské služby, a. s. Dále vyhodnocení z hlediska množství a druhů přijatých odpadů na jednotlivých sběrných dvorech v časové řadě. Zvolený problém je řešen, pomocí porovnání mezi jednotlivými sběrnými dvory. K řešení bylo použito statistických metod, které byly vyhodnoceny na základě údajů z evidence odpadů u jednotlivých sběrných dvorů. A také na základě vlastního šetření. Data jsou zpracována pomocí nástroje Microsoft Excel 2010 a Geografického informačního sytému (dále jen ArcGIS), z čehož vyšly výstupy ve formě grafů a map. Vytvořená data poskytují informace o vytíženosti jednotlivých sběrných dvorů. Provedeným výzkumem jsem zjistila silné i slabé stránky sběrných dvorů a zároveň vyhodnotila možné příležitosti, hrozby a opatření. Přínosem této práce jsou informace o vytíženosti jednotlivých sběrných dvorů, které jsou užitečné pro hl. m. Prahu, jakož to pro zřizovatele sběrných dvorů a pro společnost Pražské služby, a. s., která je provozovatelem vybraných sběrných dvorů. Hlavním zjištěním této práce je vyhodnocení vytíženosti a návštěvnosti jednotlivých sběrných dvorů. Výsledkem jsou grafy, které vyhodnocují vytíženost jednotlivých sběrných dvorů. Na základě zjištěných údajů je možné vyhodnotit silné a slabé stránky funkčnosti sběrných dvorů. Výsledky této práce nám umožňují vyhodnotit možné příležitosti, hrozby a opatření pro provoz jednotlivých sběrných dvorů.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis addresses the context of waste management. This thesis discusses waste management in the European Union, in the Czech Republic and in the capital city of Prague, and deals with the function of collection yards. The aim of this study is to evaluate the operations of collection yards run in the city Prague, focusing on the company Pražské služby, a. s. In addition, the aim is to make an evaluation in terms of quantity and types of waste received at the various collection yards over a specific time period. A selected problem is solved, using comparisons between collection yards. The solution was determined by using statistical methods, which resulted from the collection of data provided by waste registration from individual collecting yards. Furthermore, data was collected from the process of investigation. Data was processed using Microsoft Excel 2010 and the Geographic Information System (ArcGIS), of which outputs were published in the form of graphs and maps. The data created provides information on the utilization of individual collection yards. By carrying out the research, we found strong and weak yards, and also evaluated the potential opportunities, threats and actions. The contribution of this work is about the utilization of individual collection yards, which is useful for the capital city of Prague, as well as to the founder yards and the company of Prague Services, Inc., which operates a selected collection of yards. The main finding of this diploma thesis is the evaluation of work load and turn out of each collection yard. The results are graphs that depict the utilization of individual collection yards. Based on the data obtained, it is possible to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the functionality of collection yards. The results of this study allow us to evaluate potential opportunities, threats and measures for the operation of individual collection yards.
