Comparison of the Economic Performance of Selected Central Banks Based on Ownership Structure

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá vlastnickou strukturou a právy soukromých akcionářů v centrálních bankách a analyzuje vliv této struktury na hospodaření těchto bank. Soukromí akcionáři mohou částečně ovlivňovat rozhodování centrální banky způsobem, který není v souladu s veřejným zájmem, a proto je důležité zkoumat, jak tato vlastnická struktura ovlivňuje hospodaření a výkonnost centrálních bank. Teoretická část práce představuje roli a historický vývoj centrálních bank a dále popisuje vlastnické struktury, včetně výhod a nevýhod soukromého vlastnictví. Kapitoly se dále zaobírají rolí akcionářů a distribucí výsledků hospodaření. Praktická část se zabývá analýzou vyplacených dividend soukromých centrálních bank a srovnání výsledků hospodaření soukromých a veřejných bank. Práce rovněž analyzuje akcie veřejně obchodovaných centrálních bank.

Abstract:

The master thesis focuses on the ownership structure and rights of private shareholders in central banks and analyses the impact of this structure on the economic performance of these banks. Private shareholders can partly influence central bank decision-making in ways that are not consistent with the public interest, and it is therefore important to examine how this ownership structure affects the management and performance of central banks. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces the role and historical development of central banks and then describes ownership structures, including the advantages and disadvantages of private ownership. The chapters also discuss the role of shareholders and the distribution of economic performance. The practical part deals with an analysis of dividends paid by private central banks and a comparison of the economic performance of private and public banks. The thesis also analyses the stocks of publicly traded central banks.
