Economic Performance of Manufacturing Industry in the Ústí-Teplice Agglomeration

Abstract:

Práce řeší ekonomickou výkonnost regionů na základě agregovaných dat pocházejících z účetních závěrek firem. Z prostorového hlediska se práce věnuje urbanizovanému území, v němž dominantní roli hrají jádrová města Ústí nad Labem a Teplice. Hlavním cílem diplomové práce je identifikace faktorů regionálního rozvoje vyplývajících z ekonomické výkonnosti zpracovatelského průmyslu v unifikovaném aglomerovaném prostoru, kde jádrovými městy jsou Ústí nad Labem a Teplice. Aglomerace je vymezena metodou, která je založená na vzájemných pracovních a dojíždkových interakcích. Hodnocení ekonomické výkonnosti probíhá na základě dat z účetních závěrek sledovaných společností. Hodnotí se poměrové ukazatele pro vymezení faktorů regionálního rozvoje. Za jednoznačné faktory regionálního rozvoje z odvětvového hlediska lze považovat průmysly chemický a sklářský, keramický a stavebních hmot. Tato tradiční odvětví průmyslu jsou stále velmi významnými pro ekonomickou výkonnost Ústecko-teplické aglomerace. Dalším faktorem je růst zaměstnanosti v aglomerovaných zónách Ústecko-teplické aglomerace a pokles zaměstnanosti v jádrových městech, tedy pokles zaměstnanosti v Ústí nad Labem a Teplicích. Důležitým faktorem je také skutečnost, že v Ústecko-teplické aglomeraci není dominantním odvětvím pouze jedno odvětví průmyslu. Paleta odvětví zpracovatelského průmyslu v Ústecko-teplické aglomeraci je pestrá.

Abstract:

The paper deals with the economic performance of regions based on aggregated data from the financial statements of companies. From the spatial point of view, the thesis focuses on the urbanized area, in which the dominant role is played by the core cities of Ústí nad Labem and Teplice. The main objective of the thesis is to identify the factors of regional development resulting from the economic performance of manufacturing industry in a unified agglomerated area where the core cities are Ústí nad Labem and Teplice. The agglomeration is defined using a method based on work and commuting interactions. The evaluation of economic performance is based on data from the financial statements of the companies monitored. Proportional indicators are evaluated to define regional development factors. From a sectoral perspective, the chemical and glass, ceramics and building materials industries can be considered as clear regional development factors. These traditional industries are still very important for the economic performance of the Ústí-teplice agglomeration. Another factor is the growth of employment in the agglomerated zones of the Ústí-teplice agglomeration and the decline of employment in the core cities, i.e. the decline of employment in Ústí nad Labem and Teplice. Another important factor is the fact that in the Ústí-teplice agglomeration the dominant sector is not just one industry. The range of manufacturing industries in the Ústí-teplice agglomeration is diverse.
