Constructions of Almost Periodic Functions and Orthogonal and Unitary Diference Systems

Abstract:

V první kapitole zavedeme spojité skoroperiodické funkce reálné proměnné a diskrétní skoroperiodické funkce (posloupnosti) definované na množině (nezáporných) celých čísel s hodnotami v pseudometrickém prostoru X; upravíme Bochnerovu definici skoroperiodičnosti tak, aby zůstala ekvivalentní s definicí Bohrovou v libovolném X; a dokážeme, že různé výsledky známé z „klasického“ případu si zachovávají svoji platnost také v našem položení. Poté uvedeme jednu (snadno modifikovatelnou) metodu konstrukcí diskrétních a spojitých skoroperiodických funkcí v X. S její pomocí nalezneme skoroperiodické homogenní lineární diferenční systémy, jenž nemají žádná netriviální skoroperiodická řešení, přičemž budeme uvažovat obecnou situaci, kdy hodnoty matic v lineárních systémech jsou z okruhu s jednotkou. Ve druhé kapitole budeme zkoumat skoroperiodičnost řešení ortogonálních a unitárních skoroperiodických homogenních lineárních diferenčních systémů uvažovaných vzhledem ke všem celým číslům s využitím článku „On unitary almost periodic difference systems; Advances in difference equations (Veszprém, 1995), pages 589–596; Gordon and Breach, Amsterdam, 1997” V. Tkačenka, jehož některé výsledky doplníme (a opravíme). Zvláště uvedeme dvě „nová“ lemmata, která jsou z pohledu lineární algebry zajímavá sama o sobě. V jejich důkazech navíc využijeme pouze základních vlastností množiny všech ortogonálních (nebo unitárních) matic. To znamená, že náš postup je zjednodušením Tkačenkova. Pak za pomoci těchto lemmat a výsledků první kapitoly dokážeme, že systémy, které nemají netriviální skoroperiodická řešení, a systémy, jejichž všechna řešení jsou skoroperiodická, tvoří husté podmnožiny množiny všech studovaných systémů. Dále dokážeme, že uváděné výsledky platí pro všechny dimenze vyšetřovaných rovnic; včetně skalárního případu, pokud uvažujeme unitární systémy.

Abstract:

Chapter 1: We introduce continuous almost periodic functions of the real variable and discrete almost periodic functions (sequences) defined on the set of (nonnegative) integers with values in a pseudometric space X. We modify Bochner’s definition of the almost periodicity so that it remains equivalent with Bohr’s definition in an arbitrary X, and we prove that several results known from the classical case remains true in our setting. Then, we present one (easily modifiable) method of constructions of discrete and continuous almost periodic functions in X. Using this method, we find almost periodic homogeneous linear difference systems what do not have any nontrivial almost periodic solutions. We treat this problem in a general setting where we suppose that entries of matrices in linear systems belong to a ring with a unit. Chapter 2: We study the almost periodicity of solutions of orthogonal and unitary almost periodic homogeneous linear difference systems considered for all integers. We are motivated by the article “V. Tkachenko: On unitary almost periodic difference systems; Advances in difference equations (Veszprém, 1995), pages 589–596; Gordon and Breach, Amsterdam, 1997”. We complete (and rectify) some results given in that paper. In particular, we introduce two “new” lemmas. These lemmas are interesting themselves from the linear algebra point of view. Further, we use only elementary properties of the set of all orthogonal (or unitary) matrices in their proofs. It means that our process is a simplification of that of Tkachenko’s one. Then, using these lemmas and results of Chapter 1, we prove that the systems which do not have any nontrivial almost periodic solutions and the systems whose all solutions are almost periodic form dense subsets of the set of all studied systems. In addition, we prove that the presented results are valid for all dimensions of investigated equations, including the scalar case if we consider unitary systems.
