Abstract:

Hlavním tématem bakalářské práce je problematika HIV/AIDS v subsaharské Africe. Bakalářská práce je rozdělena na deskriptivní a analytickou část. V deskriptivní části se zabýváme definováním HIV/AIDS a popisujeme samotný program President's Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). Podrobněji se věnujeme historii, vedení, aktivitám a cílům programu v subsaharské Africe. V analytické části bakalářské práce se zaměřujeme na statistické údaje, které zahrnují počet nově infikovaných osob HIV/AIDS v regionu subsaharské Afriky, počet lidí, kteří využívají antiretrovirální terapii aj. Konkrétně se jedná o údaje od roku 1990 až do roku 2015. Současně se zabýváme příčinami tak vysokého počtu nakažených HIV/AIDS v tomto regionu a zmiňujeme také rozpočet vynaložený pro program PEPFAR. Všechna tato data, která každoročně vydávají statistické úřady, porovnáváme a snažíme se poukázat na úspěšnost organizací a především programu PEPFAR. Úkolem bakalářské práce je rovněž poukázat na vliv, který má HIV/AIDS na život v Africe. Hlavním cílem této bakalářské práce je zjistit, z jakého důvodu se i přes veškerý pokrok v prevenci a léčbě HIV/AIDS, o který se zasloužil významně program PEPFAR, statisticky stále zvyšují počty infikovaných osob.

Abstract:

The main topic of the bachelor thesis is the issue of HIV / AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa. Bachelor thesis is divided into descriptive and analytical part. In the descriptive part, we are dealing with the definition of HIV / AIDS and describe the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). We focus more on the history, leadership, activities and targets of the program in Sub-Saharan Africa. In the analytical part of the bachelor thesis, we focus on statistical data, which include the number of newly infected people in the Sub-Saharan Africa region, the number of people using antiretroviral therapy, etc. We are also addressing the causes of such a high number of HIV / AIDS infections in this region, and we also mention the budget spent on PEPFAR. We compare all of these data, which are issued every year by the statistical authorities, and we try to point out the success of the organizations and, above all, the PEPFAR program. The task of the bachelor thesis is also to pouint out the impact HIV / AIDS has on the life in Africa. The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to find out why, despite all the progress in the prevention and treatment of HIV / AIDS, which has greatly deserved the PEPFAR program, statistically increase the number of infected persons.
