The Phenomenon of Security Privatization in the 20th and 21st Century – Opportunity and Risk for the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá analýzou privatizace bezpečnosti od historického vývoje až po současnost s důrazem na situaci v České republice. První část práce se zaměřuje na teoretickou analýzu fenoménu privatizace bezpečnosti pomocí relevantních literárních zdrojů. Druhá část využívá dotazníkového šetření k získání informací od občanů a pracovníků bezpečnostních služeb z České republiky ohledně potenciálních rizik a příležitostí spojených s privatizací. Druhá část rovněž zahrnuje strukturovaný rozhovor s odborníky, kteří odpoví na hlavní otázky dotazníku a poskytnou odborný náhled do problematiky privatizace bezpečnosti. V práci jsou provedeny dvě SWOT analýzy: první vychází z teoretické části a názoru odborníků, druhá z výsledků dotazníkového šetření. Tímto způsobem se zkoumají jak negativní, tak pozitivní aspekty privatizace bezpečnosti v České republice. Vyhodnocení práce umožní identifikaci klíčových rizik a příležitostí spojených s tímto procesem, což přispěje k lepšímu porozumění dynamiky soukromého zajišťování bezpečnosti ve veřejném prostoru.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the analysis of privatization of security from historical development to the present with emphasis on the situation in the Czech Republic. The first part of the thesis focuses on the theoretical analysis of the phenomenon of security privatization using relevant literary sources. The second part uses a questionnaire survey to gather information from citizens and security personnel in the Czech Republic regarding potential risks and opportunities associated with privatisation. The second part also includes a structured interview with experts to answer the main questions of the questionnaire and provide expert insight into the issue of security privatization. Two SWOT analyses are conducted in the thesis: the first is based on the theoretical part and the experts' opinion, the second on the results of the questionnaire survey. In this way, both negative and positive aspects of security privatisation in the Czech Republic are examined. The evaluation of the thesis will enable the identification of key risks and opportunities associated with this process, which will contribute to a better understanding of the dynamics of private provision of security in public space.
