The Character of a Journalist in the Czech Literature of the 19th century.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce zkoumá postavu novináře ve vybraných prozaických textech z 19. století. Pro utvoření představy o novinářství práce využívá dějin literatury a dějin médií. Dále jsou zde shrnuty zásadní momenty české historie, které se na novinářské činnosti taktéž podepisovaly. Základním úkolem bakalářské práce je charakterizovat postavu novináře ve vybraných textech a na základě získaných informací popsat způsoby zobrazování novináře v beletristických prozaických dílech. Dalším cílem je zjistit, jak se česká dobová literatura podílela na utvoření obrazu skutečného novináře a novinářského povolání v 19. století.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis examines the character of the journalist in selected prose texts from the 19th century. The thesis exploits the history of literature and the media to create an idea of journalism. Furthermore, crucial Czech history events that influenced journalistic activities are summarised here. The bachelor's thesis aims to characterise the character of the journalist in selected texts and, based on the information obtained, to describe the ways of depicting the journalist in fictional prose pieces. Another goal is to determine how contemporary Czech literature contributed to creating the image of a real journalist and the journalistic profession in the 19th century.
