Specific barriers for university graduate mothers returning to the labour market in the village and in the city

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem návratu žen na trh práce po mateřské dovolené. Jejím cílem je odpovědět na hlavní výzkumnou otázku: V čem se liší a v čem jsou si podobné bariéry návratu na trh práce vysokoškolsky vzdělaných matek na venkově a ve městě? V teoretické části byly nejprve definovány základní charakteristiky města a venkova, poté popsány překážky návratu matek do zaměstnání v oblastech trhu práce, přístupu zaměstnavatelů a v nastavení rodinné politiky. Výzkum byl proveden metodou kvalitativního polo-strukturovaného rozhovoru. Jeho výsledky poukazují na to, že návrat matek do zaměstnání je ovlivněn nutností dojíždět na pracoviště častěji na venkově než ve městech. Tento faktor hraje roli především v období po rodičovské dovolené, kdy je třeba sladit dojíždění do práce s vyzvedáváním dítěte z mateřské školy. Tato práce obsahuje 16 283 slov základního textu.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on returning of women to labour market after maternity leave. Its aim is to answer the research question: In what way are the barriers to the returning of university graduates from maternity leave to labour market different or similar in the country and in towns? Firstly, the basic characteristics of towns and villages were defined in the theoretical part, the barriers to returning of mothers to their jobs in the labour market, employers’ attitudes and the regulation of family policy. The research has been done by qualitative partially structured interview. Its results show that returning to work is more often influenced by the necessity of commuting to workplace for women in the country than in towns. This factor is important especially during the period after returning from maternity leave, when commuting to work should be coordinated with picking children up from the kindergarten.
