Token economy as a part of behavior evaluation system at primary school education

Abstract:

Tato bakalářské práce pojednává o využití bodového systému hodnocení chování jako kázeňského nástroje na základních školách. V teoretické části vymezuji terminologii zaměřenou na cílovou skupinu – žáky s problémy v chování a žáky s poruchou chování. K této oblasti se váže problematika nahlížení učitelů na takové žáky a z toho vyplývající přístup učitelů. Prvním krokem ke změně přístupu je seznámení se zásadami školské intervence a nastavení kázně ve škole. Kromě školního řádu lze hledat i další podpůrné kázeňské nástroje, jedním z nich je právě bodový systém hodnocení chování. Jeho využití je široké, vzhledem k tomu, že je možné ho nastavit dle potřeb určité cílové skupiny. Bodový systém hodnocení chování popisuji z hlediska jeho technik, možností využití, ale zmiňuji také historii. V empirické části ověřuji na dvou základních školách v Brně funkčnost systému. V rozhovorech se zaměřuji na efektivitu systému a spokojenost se systémem z pohledu vedení, učitelů a žáků daných škol. Cílem práce je popsat specifické nastavení a konkrétní zkušenosti s bodovým systémem hodnocení chování na vybraných základních školách.

Abstract:

The theme of this bachelor thesis is the use of token economy as a part of behaviour evaluation system at primary schools. The theoretical part defines the terminology related to the targeted group – pupils with behavioural problems and pupils with behavioural disorders. This area is connected with the way how teachers perceive pupils and their resulting attitude. The first step to change the attitude is to introduce the principles of educational intervention and discipline in school environment. In addition to the official code of conduct, there are various supporting disciplinary tools available, one of them is a point-based system evaluating the behaviour of school pupils. The possibilities of its use are wide, due to the fact that it can be adjusted to meet the needs of a particular target group. I describe token economy evaluating behaviour in terms of its techniques, possibilities of use, but I also outline its history. In the empirical part, I verify the functionality of the system introduced at two primary schools in Brno. In the interviews, I focus on the system effectiveness and satisfaction with it from the perspective of the management, teachers as well as pupils in the studied schools. The aim of the work is to describe the specific setting and specific experience with token economy as a part of behaviour evaluation system at primary schools.
