Movement abilities and specific ball catching skills in goalkeepers aged 12-15 years

Abstract:

Fotbalový brankář je nedílnou součásti týmu a hbitost nedílnou součástí výbušných akcí, které musí brankář podstupovat a kdy musí rychle reagovat na určité podněty. Neexistuje však mnoho studií zabývající se porovnáním hbitosti mezi profesionálními a amatérskými brankáři v žákovské kategorii. Cílem práce je porovnání specifických dovedností, především hbitosti a chytání míče v pádu u výkonnostní úrovně mezi profesionálními a amatérskými brankáři ve věku 12-15 let. Brankáři účastnicí se výzkumu byli profesionální a amatérští fotbalisté v rozmezí věku 12-15 let (N=18, věk 12,78 ? 0,94, výška 163,17 ? 8,40, váha 53,17 ? 12,70, BMI 19,80 ? 2,72). Brankáři ze dvou různých výkonnostních úrovní (nejvyšší soutěž a krajská soutěž) byli zapojeni do testování, které zahrnovalo tři standardizované testy zaměřené na hbitost a techniku chytání míče v pádu (Goalkeeper-Specific Reactive Agility Test, T-Test a Illinois Agility Test). Pro srovnání dvou výkonnostních skupin (poloprofesionální, amatérská) byl použit neparametrický Mann-Whitney U test. Dále byl použit neparametrický test Kruskal-Wallis pro porovnání tří skupin (kontrolní skupina profesionálních brankářů, kontrolní skupina amatérských brankářů a experimentální skupina amatérských brankářů). Ve všech testech dosáhli lepšího času profesionální brankáři, kdy byl prokázán statistický signifikantní rozdíl (p=0,001). Na základě praktické významnosti byl u všech testů nalezen velmi velký vliv (G-RAT: ES= 3,01, T-Test: ES= 2,57, Illinois Agility Test: ES= 2,12). U porovnání experimentální skupiny amatérských brankářů mezi vstupním a výstupním měření, došlo u všech tří testů ke zlepšení času. Nicméně nebyl zjištěn žádný statistický významný rozdíl (G-RAT= Před-Po (p=0,144), T-Test= Před-Po (p=0,715), Illinois Agility Testu= Před-Po (p=0,273)). V porovnání experimentální skupiny, byl na základě praktické významnosti prokázán u dvou testů střední vliv (G-RAT= před-po (ES=0,68), Illinois Agility Test= před-po (ES=0,74)) a u T-Testu byl na základě praktické významnosti zjištěn malý vliv (ES=0,41). Na základě výsledků této práce, by měli trenéři pracují s mladými fotbalovými sportovci, být informováni, že rozvoj testů specifických pro fotbal v tomto věku je většinou závislý na tréninku konkrétní motorické dovednosti. Dále by měli brát v potaz, že takovýto trénink by u brankářů mohl pravděpodobně být zařazen ještě častěji než jednou týdně anebo po delší dobu v případě, že by tito mladí brankáři v budoucnu aspirovali na působení v profesionálních klubech.

Abstract:

A football goalkeeper is a part of the team and agility is an integral part of the explosive actions that a goalkeeper must undergo and react quickly to certain situations. However, there are not many studies looking at the comparison of agility between professional and amateur goalkeepers in the youth category. The aim of this study is to compare specific skills, especially agility and catching the ball in the fall, at the performance level between professional and amateur goalkeepers aged 12-15 years. The goalkeepers participating in the study were professional and amateur football players ranging in age from 12-15 years (N=18, age 12.78 ? 0.94, height 163.17 ? 8.40, weight 53.17 ? 12.70, BMI 19.80 ? 2.72). Goalkeepers from two different performance levels (first league and regional league) were involved in testing that included three standardized tests focused on agility and ball-catching technique in the fall (Goalkeeper-Specific Reactive Agility Test, T-Test, and Illinois Agility Test). For comparison, for the two performance groups (semi-professional, and amateur), the non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test was used. Furthermore, the non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis test was used to compare the three groups (control group of professional goalkeepers, control group of amateur goalkeepers, and experimental group of amateur goalkeepers). In all tests, the professional goalkeepers achieved a better time, with a statistically significant difference (p=0.001). Based on practical significance, a very large effect was found for all tests (G-RAT: ES= 3.01, T-Test: ES= 2.57, Illinois Agility Test: ES= 2,12). For the comparison of the experimental group of amateur goalkeepers between the input and output measurements, there was an improvement in time for all three tests. However, there was no statistically significant difference (G-RAT= Pre-Post (p=0.144), T-Test= Pre-Post (p=0.715), Illinois Agility Test= Pre-Post (p=0.273)). In the experimental group comparison, a moderate effect was found for two tests based on practical significance (G-RAT= Pre-Po (ES=0.68), Illinois Agility Test= Pre-Po (ES=0.74)) and a small effect was found for the T-Test based on practical significance (ES=0.41). Based on the results of this work, coaches working with young football athletes should be informed that the development of football-specific tests at this age is mostly dependent on the training of a specific motor skill. Moreover, they should take into account the fact this training should be executed more frequently than once a week or for a longer period of time for goalkeepers if young goalkeepers aspire to play for professional clubs in the future.
