Život a kultura afrických otroků na jižanských plantážích v USA

Abstract:

Tato práce pojednává o každodenním životě afrických otroků na jihu USA v průběhu 18. století až do poloviny 19. století. Na začátku bakalářské práce je popsán obchod s otroky a události, které vedly k vytvoření otroctví jako takového. Následuje charakteristika a rozdělení plantáží v závislosti na vypěstované plodině a popis jejich provozu. Bakalářská práce detailně analyzuje každodenní život černošských otroků, bělošských otrokářů a vztahy mezi nimi. V neposlední řadě práce pojednává o kultuře a zvycích, které si američtí černoši vytvořili v průběhu otroctví, aby si ulehčili každodenní život.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the everyday life of African-American slaves on Southern plantations during the 18th and until the middle of the 19th century. First of all, the work gives a comprehensive view on the domestic slave trade and the events that led to establishing the slave empire as such. Next, the given work analyzes the functioning of plantations, thoroughly depicts the everyday life of slaves and white slaveholders and deals with their relationship. Consequently, the thesis describes the culture and traditions the African-Americans created in order to alleviate their lives.
