Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je přeložit a následně analyzovat vybrané básně sbírky Rain Dona Patersona. Tato práce je rozdělena do čtyř hlavních částí. První a zároveň nejkratší část je věnována životu a dílu Dona Patersona a jeho náhledu na poezii jako takovou. Druhá – teoretická – část se soustředí na specifika problematiky překladu poezie a porovnává existující strategie a postupy – věnuje se převážně lingvistickým, sociokulturním a estetickým aspektům a rozebírá strategie Jiřího Levého a Lefevrea; třetí – praktická – část pak zahrnuje samotné překlady vybraných básní. A v neposlední řádě čtvrtá – analytická – část, která spojuje všechny výše zmíněné, jelikož je zasvěcena analýze samotných básní a mým překladům, využívaje informací z prvních teoretických kapitol.

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis is to translate and analyse selected poems of Don Paterson’s poetry collection Rain. The thesis is divided into four main parts. The first and the shortest one deals with the life and work of Don Paterson and his subjective view of poetry. The second – theoretical – one discusses the specific features of poetry translation and compares the existing approaches and strategies – focusing on linguistic, socio-cultural and aesthetic aspects and Levý’s and Lefeveres approaches; the third – practical – part comprises translations of the selected poems. And finally, the fourth – analytical – part then connects all the aforementioned ones, as it is dedicated to the analysis of the poems and their translation, using the information gathered in the first two chapters.
