Corporate social responsibility: Alternative way of development?

Abstract:

Předložená práce se zabývá otázkou společenské odpovědnosti firem u nadnárodních korporací jako možného prostředku rozvoje v kontextu rozvojových zemí. S ohledem na široké možnosti chápání CSR a na snahu práce uchopit a zkoumat rozvojové aspekty v rámci působení soukromého sektoru, autorka v práci užívá inovaci CSR, a to termín (globálního) firemního občanství. Ten pak představuje politickou dimenzi pro chápání firem ve vztahu ke společnosti, s čímž souvisí i nabídnutá perspektiva a postup v práci. Ty za aplikace logiky firemního občanství zkoumají možnosti srovnání a zároveň i společné aspekty rozvojových politik bilaterálních donorů a CSR firem jak na teoretické, tak na praktické úrovni na případové studii Nigérie.

Abstract:

Presented thesis analyzes the issue of corporate social responsibility of transnational corporations as a plausible way of development in the developing countries context. Regarding the vast number of possible approaches to CSR and the attempt of this work to comprehend and analyze development aspects in the private sector, the author uses particular innovation of CSR- the term of (global) corporate citizenship. Corporate citizenship introduces political dimension of the business activities, particularly in the relation to society. This is further reflected in the structure of presented thesis and in the applied perspective. The logic of corporate citizenship is used to analyze the limits and possibilities of comparison as well as common development aspects of the development policy of bilateral donors and business CSR. This is applied both on a theoretical level and in the case study of Nigeria.
