Nádorové onemocnění prostaty patří především ve vyspělých zemích světa mezi jedno z nejčastějších a jeho incidence stále stoupá. To je částečně způsobeno jak celkovým stárnutím populace, neboť vyšší věk je jedním z rizikových faktorů tohoto onemocnění, tak i zlepšováním diagnostických metod, což vede k záchytu onemocnění v časnějších stádiích, která dřívější diagnostické metody neodhalily. Prostate cancer is one of the most frequently diagnosed cancer in developed countries, with continuously increasing incidence. This is partially caused by ageing of the population, since age is one of the main risk factors of prostate cancer, and partially by improved diagnostic methods, leading to more frequent diagnosis of earlier stages of prostate cancer, which were not recognized previously.
