Stratigraqphy and facies of some Famennian and lower Carboniferous outcrops in the southern part of the Moravian Karst

Abstract:

Práce je zaměřena na konodontovou biostratigrafii a faciální vývoj vybraných výchozů líšeňského souvrství (famen) v jižní části Moravského krasu. Konodontové vzorky a výbrusy byly získány z profilů z oblasti u Ochozi u Brna, z okolí Hostěnic a ze západního lomu Mokrá. Litologická schémata profilů vychází z makroskopického pozorování v terénu. Mikrofacie ve výbrusech byly stručně kvalitativně popsány s použitím Dunhamovy klasifikace. Nejstarší zaznamenaná konodontová asociace pochází z rozpětí nejsvrchnější Palmatolepis crepida až svrchní Palmatolepis rhomboidea a nejmladší vzorky lze zařadit do rozpětí zón Palmatolepis gracilis expansa. Další vzorky poskytly různé konodontové asociace náležící zónám Palmatolepis marginifera, Palmatolepis rugosa trachytera a Palmatolepis perlobata postera. Všechny studované profily zahrnovaly polohy anoxického až hypoxického annulata eventu s. l. náležícího do svrchní části konodontové zóny Palmatolepis rugosa trachytera. Na základě přítomnosti konodontů, jejichž poslední statigrafický výskyt by neměl zasahovat do svrchního annulata eventu (např. Palmatolepis glabra lepta), je možná korelace se spodním annulata eventem na profilu u Ochozi u Brna a v západním lomu Mokrá. Korelace se svrchním annulata eventem nebyla u žádného z profilů dostatečně podložena. Přítomnost stratigrafických úrovní odpovídajících polohám „Wagnerbank equivalent“ nebo „Annulata limestone“, které jsou známy z různých evropských i marockých profilů, není ve studovaných profilech jednoznačná. Annulata event s. l. je na studovaných profilech možné korelovat gamaspektrometricky vzhledem ke zvýšení naměřených hodnot uranu odpovídajících eventovým polohám, což pravděpodobně odráží hypoxické nebo anoxické podmínky.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on conodont biostratigraphy and facial development of selected outcrops of the Líšeň Formation (Famennian) in the southern part of the Moravian Karst. Conodont samples and thin-sections were obtained from sections in the area near Ochoz u Brna, the vicinity of Hostěnice village and the western Mokrá quarry. Lithological schemes of sections are based on observation in the field. Microfacies in thin-sections were briefly described using Dunham classification. The oldest recorded conodont association indicates the span of the Uppermost Palmatolepis crepida to the Upper Palmatolepis rhomboidea zone. The youngest conodont samples belong to the span of Palmatolepis gracilis expansa zones. Another samples provided various conodont associations corresponding to Palmatolepis marginifera, Palmatolepis rugosa trachytera and Palmatolepis perlobata postera zones. All studied sections include anoxic to hypoxic Annulata event beds which correspond to the Upper Palmatolepis trachytera zone. Based on conodonts, the correlation with the Lower Annulata event in the section near Ochoz u Brna and in the Mokrá quarry seems to be possible due to the presence of conodont taxa which are supposed to became extinct below the Upper Annulata event (e. g. Palmatolepis glabra lepta). The correlation with the Upper Annulata event remains in all localities insufficiently supported. Presence of stratigraphic level of „Wagnerbank equivalents“ and „Annulata limestone“, which overlie Annulata event beds in various European and Moroccan localities, is equivocal in studied sections. Annulata event beds in all studied sections were correlated by gammaspectrometry, which is possible due to increase in uranium which probably reflect hypoxic or anoxic conditions.
