Czech-German language contacts in the light of proper names.

Abstract:

The purpose of the bachelor thesis is to show the history of German-Czech language contact, both its sociolinguistic and linguistic aspects. As the Czech language adopted many words and grammatical structures from German as a result of the long contact, a large number of adopted words appeared. All these influences led to the emergence of linguistic purism and the attempt to purify the language of Germanisms. The importance of our study is to obtain results that can be used to contribute to the relevant sections of theoretical and functional German grammar related to the use of proper names, and to reveal the cultural information carried by proper names.

Abstract:

Účelem bakalářské práce je ukázat historii německo-českého jazykového kontaktu, jak jeho sociolingvistickou, tak přímo lingvistickou stránku. Jelikož si čeština v důsledku dlouhého kontaktu přejímala mnoho slov a gramatických struktur z němčiny, objevilo se v ní velké množství přejatých slov. Všechny tyto vlivy vedly ke vzniku jazykového purismu a snažení očistit jazyk od germanismů. Důležitost našeho studia je získat výsledky, které lze použít jako příspěvek k příslušným oddílům teoretické a funkční gramatiky německého jazyka souvisejících s používáním vlastních jmen, a odhalit kulturní informace nesené vlastními jmény.
