The impact of aural rehabilitation on quality of life in patients with hearing loss

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem přehledové bakalářské práce bylo vyhledat publikované poznatky o sluchové rehabilitaci a sumarizovat její dopad na kvalitu života nedoslýchavých pacientů. Práce obsahovala dva dílčí cíle. Dílčím cílem I. bylo sumarizovat dopad sluchové rehabilitace na kvalitu života nedoslýchavých pacientů pomocí sluchadel. Dílčí cíl II. měl sumarizovat dopad sluchové rehabilitace na kvalitu života nedoslýchavých pacientů pomocí kochleárních implantátů. Metodika: Na základě stanovených cílů se pro sběr dat použily elektronické databáze Academic Search Complete (EBSCO), CINAHL, Medline a PubMed v českých a zahraničních zdrojích. Nalezené relevantní práce byly vyhledány systematickou rešeršní strategií a byly vyhodnoceny dle zvolených kritérií, aby splňovaly účel přehledové bakalářské práce. Tříděním dle struktury PRISMA byly po zhodnocení vybrány relevantní studie. Výsledky: Sluchová rehabilitace ukázala přínosný a pozitivní dopad na kvalitu života nedoslýchavých pacientů. Významně zvyšuje kvalitu života a sluchové funkce. Nedoslýchaví pacienti ze sluchadel a kochleárních implantátů profitují i v dalších oblastech, například třeba v každodenních činnostech, volnočasových aktivitách, poslechu hudby. Bylo prokázáno, že kompenzační sluchové pomůcky mírní účinky úzkosti, depresí, sociální izolace a napomáhají soběstačnosti a nezávislosti starších pacientů. Závěr: Výsledky této přehledové bakalářské práce poukazují na možnost posílení vědění o pojmu sluchové rehabilitace a její prospěšnosti na kvalitu života nedoslýchavých pacientů v České republice, důležitost zapojení rodiny a blízkých pacienta do sluchové rehabilitace, prohlubování znalostí nedoslýchavých pacientů, zdravotníků a veřejnosti. Cílem audiologických pracovišť by mělo být poskytnutí detailních informací o sluchové rehabilitaci a možnosti ponechání prostoru pro dotazy. Abstract:

Purpose: The aim of the overview bachelor thesis was to search for published findings of aural rehabilitation and to summarize impact of aural rehabilitation on quality of life on patients with hearing loss. Furthermore to summarize impact of aural rehabilitation on quality of life on patients with hearing loss using hearing aids and summarize impact of aural rehabilitation on quality of life on patients with hearing loss using cochlear implants. Methods: Based on the set aims were used of electonic databases Academic Search Complete (EBSCO), CINAHL, Medline and PubMed in czech and foreign sources. The found relevant works were search using a systematic search strategy and evaluated according to the selected criteria in order to fulfill the purpose of the overview thesis. After evaluation, relevant studies were selected by sorting according to the PRISMA structure. Results: Aural rehabilitation shows beneficial and positive impact on quality of life of patients with hearing loss. It significantly increases quality of life and hearing functions. Patients with hearing loss benefit from hearing aids and cochlear implants in other areas as well, for example in daily activities, leisure activities, music listening. Has been demonstrated that compensatory hearing aids moderates to the effects of anxiety, depressions, social isolation and helps to self-sufficienty and independence in of elderly patients. Conclusion: The results of this overview bachelor thesis point to the possibility of strengthening knowledge about the concept of aural rehabilitation and its benefits on quality of life on patients with hearing loss in Czech Republic, the importance of involving patient's family and relatives in aural rehabilitation, deepening the knowledge of patients with hearing loss, health professionals and the public. The goal of audiological workplaces should be to provide detailed informations about aural rehabilitation and the possibility of space for questions.
