Diversity and variation of mayfly, stonefly and caddies fly assemblages of calcareous spring fen streamlets

Abstract:

Náplní této práce bylo popsat a srovnat druhovou diverzitu a skladbu taxocenóz jepic (Ephemeroptera), pošvatek (Plecoptera) a chrostíků (Trichoptera) v ekologicky odlišných typech pramenných stružek, které vytékají z prameništních slatinišť v Západních Karpatech. Dále pak stanovit faktory prostředí, které ovlivňují strukturu společenstva a popsat stanovištní preference významných druhů. Byly shromážděny informace z literatury, které se tímto tématem zabývají, zpracováno 33 bentických vzorků a vyhodnoceny údaje z 8 Malaiseho pastí. Vzorky byly odebírány na 11 lokalitách reprezentujících hlavní typy pramenných stružek sledovaného území ve třech sezónních aspektech (jaro, léto, podzim) v roce 2006. Ve stružkách byly měřeny hlavní proměnné prostředí (např. teplota vody, konduktivita, pH, průtok) a určeno zastoupení velikostních frakcí substrátu.. Data byla analyzována v programech PC-ORD, STATISTICA a CANOCO. Struktura společenstev byla ve všech skupinách stružek podobná, dominantním taxonem byly pošvatky a druhým nejvíce zastoupeným taxonem chrostíci. Podíl jepic ve společenstvu byl minimální, výjimkou byly stružky vytékající z pěnovcových pramenišť, ve kterých měli jepice a chrostíci téměř stejné procentuální zastoupení. U eudominantních a dominantních druhů společenstev všech skupin stružek byly popsány stanovištní preference. Na základě druhové skladby byly lokality rozděleny do čtyř skupin. Nejdůležitějšími faktory, které měly vliv na druhové složení společenstva, byly složky substrátu (kamení, POM, bahno, jíl). Velký vliv měl také chemismus vody, především obsah Mg, Al a obsah rozpuštěného kyslíku a druhová skladba byla významně ovlivněna také hloubkou a teplotou vody.

Abstract:

The aims of this study were to describe and compare species richness and composition of Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera and Trichoptera taxocoenoses in ecologically different types of the Western Carpathian springbrooks draining spring fens. Further, to find the most important environmental factors affecting assemblage composition and to describe habitat preferences of important species. Three series (spring, summer, autumn 2006) of samples from 11 representative sites were collected. Proportions of substratum fractions at each site were estimated and several environmental variables (e.g. water temperature, conductivity, pH, and discharge) were measured. Altogether 33 benthic samples and data from 8 Malaise traps were processed. Data were analysed using PC-ORD, STATISTICA and CANOCO packages. Based on species composition, four groups of sites were distinguished. The structure of assemblages of these groups was very similar. Stoneflies were the dominant taxon of all assemblages; caddisflies were the second most abundant taxon. The share of mayflies was minimal, except for the tufa-forming springbrooks where mayflies were nearly the same abundant as caddisflies. The habitat preferences of eudominant and dominant species of all groups were described. Substratum fractions (stones, POM, silt, clay) were the most important factors affecting the composition of assemblages. Water chemistry, especially content of Mg, Al and dissolved oxygen, had also an important influence on community composition as well as the depth of water and water temperature.
