Culture politics and it's influence on local culture - the case of Husovice

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá místní kulturou, konkrétně Husovicemi. Popisuje definice kultury shora, z pozice státu a samosprávných orgánů, i zdola, z pozic samotných aktérů. V první části představuji teoretické koncepty autorů zabývajících se urbánním prostředím a aktivitami v něm probíhajícími. Dále se zabývám definicemi kultury (a kulturních aktivit) v dokumentech správních orgánů: ministerstva kultury, kraje a města. Tyto definice ovlivňují (nebo mohou ovlivňovat) chápání kultury samotnými aktéry. Určují, co je za kulturu považováno, i důvod, proč to za kulturu považováno být má. Protože jde o funkcionální definice kultury, práce představuje chápání funkcí kultury v daných dokumentech. Druhá část práce potom pracuje s konkrétní oblastí městské části Brno-sever: Husovicemi. Na základě vlastního výzkumu představuji definici kultury samotných významných aktérů. Popisuji nejvýraznější kulturní aktivity pomocí slovníku jejich organizátorů. Tento popis pracuje s koncepty a pojmy, kterými sami aktéři definují své akce – tudíž s definici kultury „zdola“.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with a local culture: examining an example of Husovice. It describes definitions from „above“, a position of state and autonomous organs, as well as from „below“, position of actors themselves. The first part introduces theoretical concepts of the authors that deal with an urban environment and activities happening within. It further concerns with definitions of culture (and cultural activities) spanned in executive organs: a ministry of culture, region and town. These definitions influence (or may influence) the understanding of culture by actors themselves. They determine the consideration of what culture is and also the reason why this should be regarded as culture. Because it is a matter of functional definition of culture, this work introduces an understanding of functions of culture in given documents. The second part then works with a concrete sphere of an urban district Brno-north: Husovice. On the grounds of my own research I introduce the important actors’ definitions of culture. I describe the most distinct cultural activities by using a dictionary of their organizators. This description works with concepts and notions through which the actors themselves define their actions – the definition from „below“.
