Plant anatomy in the teaching of biology in all educational stages in CZ

Abstract:

Abstrakt Cílem práce je podat informace a přehled o kvalitě a kvantitě výuky anatomie rostlin na vybraných základních, středních a vysokých školách v České Republice. Práce je zpracovaná tak, aby bylo možné srovnat používanou literaturu vybraných škol v každém ročníku, ve kterém je anatomie rostlin vyučována. Rozsah výuky daného tématu se postupně zvětšuje a specializuje o konkrétní části a pojmy, které jsou neodmyslitelně s anatomií spojené. Školy většinou používají odlišnou literaturu, díky tomu bylo možné srovnat tematický obsah jejich výuky. Na uvedených školách se anatomie vyučuje v různém rozsahu. V některých ročnících se anatomie dokonce nevyučuje. Anatomii rostlin na nižších stupních základních škol nelze oddělit od morfologie. Jedná se zde spíše o vnější popis rostlinných orgánů. Na základních školách je pozornost věnována popisu a vizuálním možnostem zobrazení konkrétních příkladů. Postupně se pak výklad přesouvá k vnitřní stavbě taxonomických skupin rostlin. Největším přínosem jsou názorné a přehledné obrázky, které vždy umožní lepší představu o probíraném tématu. Až v sedmém ročníku základní školy můžeme hovořit jen o anatomii, která se zde probírá již ve velkém rozsahu. Úroveň vědomostí o rostlinné anatomii lze mezi různými školami srovnávat až od sedmého ročníku. Pro výuku anatomie rostlin se zdají být nejvhodnější kombinace učebnic vybraných škol. V učebnicích středních škol uvedených gymnázií jsou anatomii rostlin věnovány již samostatné kapitoly. Úroveň výuky na vysokých školách nelze objektivně srovnávat kvůli velkému objemu informací a vysoké specializaci výukové literatury, proto je pouze shrnuta v přehledné tabulce zahrnující rozsah výuky a doporučenou literaturu.

Abstract:

Abstract Primary aim of this bachelor thesis is a qualitative and quantitative overview of plant anatomy teaching at selected elementary and high schools, as well as at universities. This work enabled comparison among different textbooks that are used in teaching of plant anatomy in different grades. Volume of taught information increases with school grades and teaching focuses on specific parts and terms that are closely linked to the plant anatomy. As the literature used at selected schools is diverse, it was possible to compare the content variability of the teaching. The volume of plant anatomy teaching is strongly different among the mentioned schools - some of them do not even teach plant anatomy in some grades. Plant anatomy cannot be separated from morphology at lower grades of elementary schools. Therefore, the plant anatomy teaching primarily comprises the brief description of plant organs there. At elementary schools, the teaching is strongly focused on the descriptions and visual representations of specific examples. During the following years, teaching aims more for inner structure of plant taxonomical groups. The main advantages for children education are illustrational and well-arranged pictures. Since the seventh grade of the elementary school we can talk about pure anatomy which is taught at large extent. The knowledge level of plant anatomy may be compared among different schools since the seventh grade. Combination of various textbooks used at different schools seems to be the best for plant anatomy teaching. Completely different situation was found at grammar schools, where the plant anatomy is described in separate chapters of biological textbooks. Quality of plant anatomy teaching at universities cannot be compared due to the high amount of information and high specialization of literal sources; hence only the table with information about the extent of teaching and recommended literature is presented.
