Influenza in intensive care from the point of the view of a nurse

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou chřipkového onemocnění a jeho možných komplikací. Virová pneumonie způsobena chřipkovým onemocněním je častou příčinou hospitalizace na oddělení intenzivní péče v době sezonního výskytu. Mnoho lidí z řad laické populace nemá znalosti o možných komplikacích chřipky - Influenzae typu A či B. Chřipka je často považována za banální onemocnění, spojené pouze s mírnými respiračními projevy. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na diagnostiku a léčbu virové pneumonie způsobené chřipkovým virem. Dále uvádí nejčastější komplikace, léčbu těchto komplikací, období rekonvalescence pacienta a základní možnosti monitorace pacienta v intenzivní péči při hospitalizaci virovou pneumonií. Praktická část diplomové práce je rozdělena na dvě části. V první části byly vytvořeny dvě případové studie (kazuistiky) pomocí analýzy zdravotnické dokumentace a pozorování pacientů, kteří měli diagnostikovanou virovou pneumonie. Hlavním kritériem výběru byl pozitivní PCR test na chřipku typu A. Další kritérium spočívalo ve výběru respondentů, kteří měli ARDS s nutností umělé plicní ventilace. Cílem kazuistik bylo poukázat na náročnost léčby virové pneumonie a jejích komplikací. V druhé části diplomové práce byl zpracován kvantitativní výzkum s cílem zjištění znalosti zdravotních sester v intenzivní péči spojené s chřipkovým onemocněním a očkováním proti chřipkovému onemocnění.

Abstract:

The presented diploma thesis deals with the issue of influenza and its possible complications. Viral pneumonia caused by influenza is a common cause of hospitalization in the intensive care unit at the time of seasonal occurrence. Many people from the ranks of the population have no knowledge of the possible complications of influenza - Influenzae type A or B. Influenza is often considered a trivial disease, associated with only mild respiratory manifestations. The theoretical part is focused on the diagnosis and treatment of viral pneumonia caused by the influenza virus. It also lists the most common complications, treatment of these complications, the period of convalescence of the patient, and the basic options for monitoring the patient in intensive care during hospitalization for viral pneumonia. The practical part of the diploma thesis is divided into two parts. In the first part, two case studies (case reports) were created by analyzing medical records and observing patients who were diagnosed with viral pneumonia. The main choice criterion was a positive PCR test for influenza type A. A further criterion was the selection of respondents who had ARDS with the need for synthetical pulmonary ventilation. The aim of the case reports was to point out the complexity of the treatment of viral pneumonia and its complications. In the second part of the diploma thesis, quantitative research was performed in order to determine the knowledge of nurses in intensive care associated with influenza and vaccination against influenza disease.
