The thesis aims to analyse the role of the Confucian concept of filial piety in contemporary Chinese political discourse. The idea of filial piety has formed Chinese society for more than 2000 years. It has influenced the rule of dynastic rulers, been present in Chinese laws, and determined the daily life of Chinese citizens.
