Crisis Management: Comparative Study between State and Privately- Owned Enterprises in Ghana

Anotace:

This study examined three main internal crisis management policies and structures (crisis management teams, organisational slacks, and internal controls) and their impact on the financial performance of state and privately owned enterprises in Ghana. The study aims to formulate recommendations related to crisis management mechanisms for state and privately owned enterprises in Ghana. The research adopted a quantitative approach by analysing a 10-year (2011-2020) panel data involving one hundred (100) state and privately owned enterprises. The data was analysed using univariate regression, multivariate correlation matrix, cross-tabulation, and t-test. The findings indicate that crisis management teams and organisational slacks have significantly and positively impacted the financial performance of state and privately owned enterprises in Ghana. In addition, crisis management teams and organisational slacks in state owned enterprises make a more significant impact on financial performance than privately owned enterprises. The data also proves that there is no significant difference in adhering to internal controls in state and privately owned enterprises. The study recommends, among other things: that state owned enterprises should continue to adhere to work ethics devoid of political interference, and privately owned enterprises should understudy state owned enterprises based on the operations of their crisis management teams and the deployment of organisational slacks
