Teachers point of view on the role of parents at the time of school closures

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je kvalitativním způsobem popsat a prozkoumat, jak učitelé vnímali roli rodičů ve vztahu k výuce v době uzavření škol a během nutnosti distanční výuky. Předmětem výzkumu bylo zjistit, jak učitelé popisují roli rodičů v době uzavření škol, jaké s nimi mají zkušenosti, co oceňovali, co kritizovali, jaká měli očekávání a zda se tato očekávání naplnila. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a empirickou část. V teoretické části jsou definovány pojmy jako domácí příprava, vztah rodiny a školy, spolupráce rodiny a školy, typy vztahů rodiny a školy, vymezení pojmu role, typy rodičovských rolí ve vztahu ke škole a rodičovské zapojení. Dále se teoretická část zabývá vymezením pojmu distanční výuka, včetně toho, jaká přináší specifika a také tím, jaké je známé dosavadní poznání o výuce v době pandemie od jejího vypuknutí. V empirické části je potom nejprve popsán výzkumný problém, cíl výzkumu, a dále metodologie kvalitativního výzkumného šetření s hlavní výzkumnou otázkou, která zní: „Jak učitelé vnímají roli rodičů ve vztahu k výuce v době uzavření škol?“. Na základě uskutečněného výzkumu jsou výsledky rozděleny do čtyř kategorií (očekávání učitelů od rodičů a jejich naplnění, rodiče jako partneři, vnímané problémy na straně rodičů a problémy spojené s vyučováním). Výsledky práce pak mohou přispět k pochopení učitelského pohledu na rodiče a vnímání rodičovské role, a také jako prevence jejich vzájemného nepochopení během distanční výuky.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to describe and explore in a qualitative way how teachers perceived the role of parents in the time of school closures and the subsequent need for distance learning. The subject of the research is to discover how teachers described the role of parents in the school closures period; what ex-periences teachers had; what teachers appreciated or criticized; what expectations teachers had and whether their expectations were fulfilled. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part defines terms such as a home preparation; a role; relations and cooperation between family and school; types of relations between family and school; and involvement of parents. The theoretical part also deals with a distant learning, especially what specificities the distant learning brings and what we have learned about education since the coronavirus pandemic hit the educational system. The empirical part describes the research problem, the re-search target, the methodology of the research and the main research question. The main research question is “How Teachers Perceive the Role of Parents in the Time of School closures.” The results of the research are divided into four following catego-ries. Teachers’ expectations towards parents and the fulfilment of the expectations; what is the ideal approach of parents, problems perceived by parents; and problems concerning education. The results of the thesis could help teachers to understand parents better and prevent misunderstandings between both sides during distance learning.
