A Statistical View of the Influence of Religious Belief on the Regional Differentiation of Marriage in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá dynamikou vývoje sňatečnosti v České republice a její regionální diferenciací na úrovni NUTS 3. Současně byl v bakalářské práci zkoumán vliv náboženské víry a postoje české veřejnosti k dané problematice. Ze statistické analýzy, provedené pomocí vybraných demografických ukazatelů, vyplývá, že hrubá míra sňatečnosti v České republice dlouhodobě klesá. Hrubé míry sňatečnosti jednotlivých krajů se pohybovaly okolo celorepublikového průměru a průměrný věk svobodných ženichů a svobodných nevěst roste. Také počet nově uzavřených církevních sňatků dlouhodobě klesá. Dříve měl jeden a ten samý kraj největší podíl uzavřených sňatků a největší podíl věřících obyvatel, to se však v současnosti již nepotvrdilo. Avšak stále platí, že osoby, které se hlásily k římskokatolickému náboženskému vyznání všeobecně častěji souhlasily s výroky, které podporovaly uzavírání manželských svazků.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis deals with the dynamics of the development of marriage in the Czech Republic and its regional differentiation at the NUTS 3 level. At the same time, the influence of religious belief and attitudes of the Czech public to the given issue were studied in the thesis. Statistical analysis, which was carried out using selected demographic indicators, showed that the gross marriage rate in the Czech Republic has been declining for a long time. Rough marriage rates of individual regions were around the national average and the average age of single grooms and single brides is increasing. The number of church weddings have also been declining in the long term. In the past, one and the same region had the largest ratio of marriages and religious inhabitants, but this has not been confirmed in the present. However, it remains the case that people who professed the Roman Catholic religion were generally more likely to agree with statements that supported marriage.
