Abstract:

Studium dravců jako vrcholových predátorů podporuje hypotézu fungování ekosystémů shora dolů. Je tak umožněno pochopení přírodních procesů, ve kterých predátoři hrají klíčovou roli. Tato práce prostřednictvím modelového druhu jestřába lesního (Accipiter gentilis L.) doplňuje zjištěné poznatky aplikovatelné pro dlouhodobé udržení rovnováhy nejen v lesních ekosystémech. Studium biologických veličin podtrhuje dosud publiko-vané skutečnosti a doplňuje informace o druhu jako takovém v podmínkách pahorkatiny Chřiby, kde bylo mimo jiné zjištěno, že za hnízdní byl vybírán nadúrovňový strom v mýtném porostu. Zkoumání potravního spektra a životního prostředí, včetně změn provedených člověkem, ukazuje jeho nároky na prostředí i změnu biologické rozmani-tosti s tím spojenou. V Chřibech bylo zjištěno, že ptáci tvořili 52–89 % potravního spektra v závislosti na použité metodě. Lesnický management je pro hnízdění jestřába lesního v Chřibech jedním s limitujících faktorů. Těžba probíhající blíže než 80 m od hnízda byla důvodem pro opuštění lokality. Tato hranice se úměrně zvýšíla až na 120 m při vytváření navazujících obnovních prvků v rámci hnízdního okrsku. Doplnění vý-zkumu závažné choroby Západonilské horečky (WNV) přenosné na člověka, vůči které je tento druh vysoce vnímavý ukazuje na komplexní bioindikační schopnosti jestřába lesního, což může být velmi užitečným nástrojem pro zajištění rovnovážného fungování ekosystému včetně životního prostředí člověka.

Abstract:

Research on birds of prey as top predators supports the hypothesis on ecosystem func-tioning – from top to bottom. Such research brings understanding of natural processes, where predators play the key role. This study on a model species, the Northern goshawk (Accipiter gentilis), supplements the already known findings that could be used in keep-ing the long-term forest ecosystem balanced. The study of biological values underlines the published facts and adds information about the species from the conditions of the Chřiby upland. Among other things, the study found that the nest is built on a high-level (high-grade) tree in a stand of the clearing age. Research into the food spectrum and environment including anthropological changes shows goshawks’ environmental re-quirements and also the changes in biological diversity. Based on the method used, birds represent 52–89% of goshawk prey in the Chřiby area. Forest management represents a limitation for breeding goshawks in Chřiby. Timber harvesting that took place 80 metres from the nest was the reason for goshawks to abandon the locality. This critical distance even increased up to 120 meters in the case of the adjacent restoration forestry management within the nest area. Supplemental research into a severe disease, the West Nile virus, which is transferable to humans and to which Northern goshawk is sensitive, shows a complex ability of Northern goshawks as a bioindicator. Such results could be useful for securing a balanced ecosystem functioning including the human environment.
