Social work with the elderly during pandemics

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je určit, zda došlo v průběhu pandemie při sociální práci se seniory k pochybením, dále zjistit, odkud případné nedostatky vzešly, a posléze na základě těchto poznatků poskytnout alespoň nějakou oporu pro případné obdobné situace, jež mohou v budoucnu nastat. Z tohoto důvodu bude výstupem této práce metodika, která může posloužit právě jako pomocný nástroj v takovýchto nestandartních podmínkách. Práce se skládá z teoretické a aplikační části, přičemž ta teoretická popisuje problematiku stáří, sociální práce se seniory v době před pandemií, a poté se soustředí na dopady koronavirové pandemie jak na sociální práci, tak na celou společnost. Aplikační část má formu metodické pilotáže, která vychází primárně z analýzy poznatků teoretické práce, vycházejících z odborných zdrojů a výsledků mého vlastního zúčastněného pozorování, jež bylo využito jako doplňková výzkumná metoda.

Abstract:

The objective of this thesis was set to find out how various inadequacies concerning social work with the elderly during the pandemics originated, and basing on that knowledge to provide at least some level of support for possible similar situations, which could occur in the future. Therefore the outcome of this thesis will be a set of methodical guidelines, that is meant to serve as a facilitating tool in such extraordinary circumstances. The thesis consists of theoretical and application parts, where the theory is concerned with the topic of social work with the elderly before the pandemic and later focuses on the impact that the coronavirus pandemic has had on both social work and the rest of the society. The application part takes form of a set of methodical guidelines, which are primarily based on analysis of the knowledge from the theoretical part and also the resulst of my own participatory observation, which was used as a secondary method.
