Psychospiritual aspects of dying and care for the dying

Abstract:

Práce se soustředí na společensky silně opomíjenou tématiku umírání a doprovázení umírajících, zvláště v duchovní oblasti. V přehledové části mapuje situaci ve společnosti, přehled literatury k tématu (s poznámkami) a vědní obory, které s tématem souvisejí. Pokouší se definovat spiritualitu a zabývá se jejím postavením ve vědě. Dále podává přehled psychospirituálních kategorií a potřeb, probírá způsoby, jak lidé reagují na tuto krizovou situaci; hledá vhodné terapeutické postupy, které mohou napomoci k důstojnému umírání. Ve výzkumné části uvádí jednotlivé kazuistiky a k nim navrhuje vhodné terapeutické postupy a optimalizuje je. Hodnotí zpracování materiálu, přičemž využívá reflexe a sebereflexe. V diskusi shrnuje vhodnost jednotlivých terapeutických postupů. V závěru práce jsou shrnuty poznatky, účel práce, její přínos pro praxi a navrženy další náměty pro studium dané tématiky. K práci je připojen přehled zdrojů citací a odkazů a prostudované literatury . Příloha obsahuje otázky použitelné a používané v případě polostrukturovaných rozhovorů.

Abstract:

This thesis concentrates on the topic vastly neglected in our society, which are spiritual aspects of supporting dying people, of their families and professional carers. The first part provides the outline of the social situation, a brief summary of available literature (with notes) and branches of science concerning the subject. There is also an attempt to characterize spirituality and its position within science. It also offers psychospiritual aspects (categories) and needs, confronting them with possible individual’s reactions to such a crisis, and searches for suitable psychotherapeutical methods, supportive at the time of dying. The next part presents individual cases, suggests suitable psychotherapeutical methods to ease the situation. It also assesses processing the material with using reflection and self-reflection. The suitability of individual psychotherapeutical methods is discussed. In the conclusion of the thesis new findings, its purpose and contribution for the practice can be found as well as suggestions for further research of the topic. Also a list of resources for quotations and references, a list of studied literature and a set of possible questions (to be) used in a semi-structured dialogue are attached in an appendix.
