Dictatorship and monarchy in the example of Francisco Franco and Kingdom of Spain

Abstract:

Předložená bakalářská práce se zabývá vzájemným kontinuálním propojením španělské monarchie a diktatury frankismu. Toto prolnutí je reprezentováno osobou diktátora Franciska Franka, a proto se právě na tuto kontroverzní postavu španělských dějin soustředí hlavní pozornost práce. V té, si jako hlavní cíl vytyčuji pokus o objasnění diktátorových politických postojů a vizí, přičemž důraz je přikládán Frankově představě o budoucnosti Španělska a to především v otázce generálova nástupnictví. První část práce rekapituluje základní vývoj španělské monarchie od jejích počátků až po období První republiky. Následující části jsou věnovány životu a vojensko-politickému vzestupu Franciska Franka až na samý vrchol moci. Podstatnou analýzu přináší kapitola věnovaná rozboru frankistického režimu. Zjevně nejdůležitějšími jsou kapitoly sledující zdlouhavé průběh hledání budoucí hlavy státu. Další úseky práce představují osobu Juana Carlose a popisují úmorné čekání na Frankův odchod. Poslední kapitola přibližuje okolnosti nástupu Juana Carlose na trůn po diktátorově smrti. V samotném závěru se pokouším o zodpovězení otázek vyvstávajících z vymezeného cíle a přikládám některé své názory týkající se zvoleného téma.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis ad addresses the continous linking the Spanish monarchy and the francoist dictatorship. This blend is represented by a person of dictator Francisco Franco, and therefor very controversial figure to this Spanish history major focus attention work. At that, the main objective outlines an attempt to clarify the dictator of political attitudes and visions, and emphasis is given to Frank´s vision of the future of Spain and particularly in the fields of the general´s succession. The first part summarizes the basic development of the Spanish monarchy from its beginnigs to the period of the First Republic. The following sections are devoted to the life and military-political Francisco Franco rise to the very pinnacle of power. Substantial analysis is provided in chapter devoted to the analysis of the Franco regime. Obviously, the most important are chapters tracking lengthy selection process of future head of state. Other sections of the works represent the person of Juan Carlos and describe the tedious waiting for Frank´s departure. The last chapter circumstances arrival of Juan Carlos to the trone after the dictator´s death. At the very end trying to answer questions which arise from defined goals and attach some of his views on the chosen topic.
