Sexuality in Persons with Mental and Combined Disabilities from the Perspective of Their Guardians

Abstract:

Text přináší odpovědi na otázku, jaký je postoj opatrovníků k sexualitě osob s mentálním a kombinovaným postižením. Práce se skládá z části teoretické a části praktické. První část se zabývá zodpovězením teoretických východisek tak, že nám definuje pojmy mentální a kombinované postižení, také nám uvádí klasifikaci obou druhů postižení, dále nám vysvětluje sexualitu u lidí s mentálním a kombinovaným postižením, zmiňuje sexuální násilí a zneužívání u těchto osob, a nakonec se dostává k systému opatrovnictví a specifikaci výkonu veřejného opatrovnictví. Pro zodpovězení otázky bylo využito kvantitativního výzkumu, který byl zrealizován dotazníkovým šetřením, a to nás dovedlo ke zjištění výsledných hodnot na základě přisuzované důležitosti jednotlivým výrokům respondenty. Zjistili jsme, že u opatrovníků převažují kladné postoje k sexualitě osob s mentálním a kombinovaným postižením. Naše zjištění lze využít například při zavádění práce se sexualitou osob s mentálním a kombinovaným postižením do zařízeních sociálních služeb.

Abstract:

The text provides answers to the question what is the attitude of guardians towards sexuality of persons with intellectual and combined disabilities. The work consists of a theoretical part and a practical part. The first part deals with answering the theoretical background by defining the terms mental and combined disabilities, it also gives us the classification of both types of disabilities, then explains sexuality in people with mental and combined disabilities, mentions sexual violence and abuse in these people, and finally it gets to the guardianship system and the specification of the exercise of public guardianship. Quantitative research was used to answer the question, which was implemented through a questionnaire survey, and this led us to determine the resulting values based on the importance attributed to each statement by the respondents. We found that positive attitudes towards sexuality of persons with intellectual and combined disabilities prevail among caregivers. Our findings can be used, for example, when introducing work on the sexuality of people with intellectual and combined disabilities into social service settings.
