Comparison of tourism in selected EU countries

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je provést analýzu cestovního ruchu v Chorvatsku a ve Slovinsku, na základě výsledků je poté provedena komparace těchto dvou zemí. Práce je rozdělena na tři kapitoly. První kapitola je teoretická. V této části je prvně vymezen historický exkurz cestovního ruchu. Poté je definován cestovní ruch. Poté je vymezen systém cestovního ruchu, jeho subjekt, objekt a produkt. Následně je popsán cestovní ruch jako destinace. Zde je tedy popsána destinace, je uveden management destinace a jsou sledovány faktory, které ovlivňují cestovní ruch. V analytické části jsou sledovány a analyzovány dvě destinace, kterými je Chorvatsko a Slovinsko. Ke komparaci je užito několik kritérií. Nejprve jsou země popsány a je zkoumána jejich historie. Následně je sledovaným ukazatelem počet obyvatel, podíl nejstarší věkové složky na počtu obyvatel. Následně jsou sledovány faktory ovlivňující cestovní ruch, jako jsou faktory selektivní, lokalizační a realizační. Zde jsou sledovány v prvé řadě makroekonomické ukazatele, jako je nezaměstnanost, hrubý domácí produkt, inflace. Poté jsou sledovány lokalizační faktory v podobě přírodního prostředí, kulturních památek atd. Dále je sledováno množství ubytovacích kapacit. V neposlední řadě je analyzováno, kolik cestujících do dané země cestovalo. Sledovaným obdobím zde byly roky 2012-2020. Při komparaci byly zjištěny různé výsledky. Návrhy na zlepšení cestovního ruchu jsou uvedeny v poslední kapitole. Každá země je něčím zvláštní jiná, nabízí jiný potenciál pro cestovní ruch.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to analyse tourism in Croatia and Slovenia, and to compare the two countries based on the findings. The thesis is divided into two chapters. The first chapter is theoretical. Firstly, the historical synopsis of tourism is presented. The definition of tourism follows and the tourism system is defined by its subject, object and product. Subsequently, the description of a destination from the tourism point of view is given. This includes the introduction to the destination management and an overview of factors influencing tourism. In the analytical part, the two destinations - Croatia and Slovenia are observed and analysed. Several criteria are used in the comparison. First, the countries are described and their history is presented. Then, the demographical indicators such as population age groups are studied. After, the factors affecting tourism, including selective, locational and implement factors are reviewed. Key macroeconomic indicators such as unemployment, gross domestic product, and inflation are also watched. Locational factors that includes the environment, cultural sites, etc. are monitored. Further, the amount of accommodation capacity is surveyed. Last but not least, the amount of incoming travellers to Croatia and Slovenia is analysed. The period of observation starts in 2012 and finishes in 2020. Suggestions for improving tourism are presented in the last chapter. Both observed countries show particular differences, and therefore offer different potential for tourism.
