Business ethics of the banking sector in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je věnována tématu etiky a etickému chování zaměstnanců bankovních institucí v České republice. Dále se zabývá etickými kodexy bankovního sektoru, které regulují a upravují podnikání a činnost zaměstnanců těchto institucí. Účelem práce je seznámit čtenáře s problematikou etického chování na domácím finančním trhu. Cílem je ovšem zjistit, zda zaměstnanci analyzovaných bankovních institucí dodržují a vystupují v rámci pravidel etického chování. K analýze chování zaměstnanců zvolených bank byl autorem diplomové práce proveden výzkum, který se skládá z dotazníkového šetření cíleného na klienty bank a jejich mínění o chování zaměstnanců. Dalším nástrojem byl mystery shopping. Na základě realizovaného výzkumu je provedeno vyhodnocení kvality komunikace a chování zaměstnanců v porovnání s informacemi, které byly poskytnuty samotnými zaměstnanci bankovních institucí. Rozhovory s jednotlivými zaměstnanci nabízejí tzv. vnitřní pohled na etiku. Závěr výzkumu je doplněn o případné doporučení pro každou analyzovanou instituci.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis is devoted to the topic of ethics and ethical behavior of employees of banking institutions in the Czech Republic. It is also devoted to the codes of ethics of the banking sector. Codes of ethics regulate the business and activities of employees of these institutions. The purpose of this thesis is to apprise readers with the issue of ethical behavior in the domestic financial market. However, the main goal is to find out whether the employees of the analyzed banking institutions observe and act within the rules of ethical conduct. To analyze the behavior of employees of selected banks, the author of the diploma thesis conducted a research that consists of a questionnaire targeted at bank clients and their opinion about the behavior of the employees. Another used tool was mystery shopping. Based on the research, an evaluation of the quality of communication and behavior of employees is performed compared with the information provided by the employees of banking institutions themselves. Interview with individual employees provides a so-called inner view of ethics. The conclusion of the research is supplemented by possible recommendations for each of analyzed institution.
