Current situation and the species diversity support in the urban green spaces

Abstract:

Cílem předložené bakalářské práce bylo zhodnocení současného stavu zájmu o podporu biologické rozmanitosti v rámci veřejné zeleně. V rámci zpracování daného tématu, bylo provedeno dotazníkové šetření. Osloveno bylo celkem 68 obcí a měst lokalizovaných na území Ústeckého kraje. Obce byly rozděleny do čtyř velikostních kategorií dle počtu obyvatel. Dotazník byl určen kompetentní osobě, zodpovědné za řízení péče o zeleň. Celkem bylo získáno 47 kompletně vyplněných dotazníků, tj. 69% návratnost dotazníků. Dotazníkovým šetřením bylo zjištěno, že 80 % obcí má osobu přímo zodpovědnou za řízení péče o veřejnou zeleň, z čehož u velikostní kategorie obcí nad 5 tis. Obyvatel byl tento podíl 100%. 90 % respondentů uvedlo, že považuje úbytek biodiverzity na Zemi za závažný problém. Opatření na podporu biodiverzity v rámci veřejné zeleně byla realizována na území 37 dotazovaných obcí (tj. 79 %). Mezi prvními třemi nejčastěji uváděnými opatřeními pro podporu biodiverzity byly uvedeny: nižší intenzita sečení travních porostů, zakládání trvalkových záhonů a ponechání doupných stromů. I přes vysoký podíl obcí, jež doposud realizovaly opatření na podporu biodiverzity, se 43 % respondentů domnívá, že opatření nejsou realizována v dostatečné míře. Jako opatření plánovaná v nejbližších cca 3 letech byla na prvních třech místech zmíněna výsadba stromů, rozšiřování vodních prvků v krajině a zakládání trvalkových záhonů.

Abstract:

The aim of the presented bachelor thesis was to assess the current state of interest in promoting biodiversity within public green spaces. As part of the elaboration of the topic, a questionnaire survey was conducted. A total of 68 municipalities and towns located in the Ústí nad Labem Region were contacted. The municipalities were divided into four size categories according to their population. The questionnaire was addressed to the competent person responsible for the management of green space care. A total of 47 completely filled in questionnaires were received, i.e. 69% return rate. The questionnaire survey revealed that 80% of the municipalities have a person directly responsible for the management of public green space, of which for the size category of municipalities above 5 thousand, the number of persons responsible for the management of public green space is over 5 thousand. This proportion was 100%. 90% of respondents said that they considered the loss of biodiversity on Earth to be a serious problem. Measures to promote biodiversity in public green spaces were implemented in 37 respondent municipalities (i.e. 79%). The top three most frequently cited biodiversity support measures were: reduced intensity of grassland mowing, establishment of perennial beds, and retention of den trees. Despite the high proportion of municipalities that have implemented biodiversity measures to date, 43% of respondents felt that measures are not being implemented to a sufficient extent. Planting trees, expanding water features in the landscape and establishing perennial beds were mentioned in the top three places as measures planned in the next 3 years or so.
