Social support of high school students during the temporary closure of schools

Abstract:

Tato výzkumná práce se zabývá sociální oporou středoškolských studentů v uzavření škol, ke kterému došlo následkem rozšíření viru COVID-19. Cílem bylo zjistit, do jaké míry se změnila opora poskytována matkou, otcem, sourozencem, spolužákem a třídním učitelem, zaměřujeme se také na kvalitu vztahu a četnost kontaktu s uvedenými osobami. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 131 studentů ze dvou středních škol v Brně a sběr dat proběhl pomocí dotazníků v elektronické podobě. Pro zjištění míry vnímané sociální opory jsme vytvořili adaptaci dotazníku MOS Social Support Survey, který respondenti vyplňovali ve dvou variantách – před uzavřením škol a během uzavření. Změny v kvalitách vztahu s klíčovými osobami uváděli studenti formou volné výpovědi. Výsledky ukazují, že se míra vnímané sociální opory snížila významně pouze u nejbližšího spolužáka a učitele, zhoršení vztahu uváděli dospívající především se spolužákem, zlepšení naopak nastalo u matky a otce.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the social support of high school students during the temporary school closure, which occurred as a result of the COVID-19. The aim was to find out to what extent the support provided by the mother, father, sibling, classmate and teacher has changed, we also focus on the quality of the relationships and the frequency of contact with those persons. The research group consisted of 131 students from two secondary schools in Brno and the data collection was carried out using questionnaires in electronic form. To determine the degree of perceived social support, we created an adaptation of the MOS Social Support Survey, which was filled out by respondents in two variants – before the school closure and during the closure. Students were free to describe changes in the quality of the relationships with important persons in their own words. The results show that the level of perceived social support decreased significantly only among the classmate and teacher, the deterioration of the relationship was reported by adolescents primarily with a classmate, on the contrary, the improvement occurred in the mother and father.
