Asset Tokenization: Potential for Disrupting Selected Industries?

Abstract:

Digital tokens can be used in a large number of applications, such as currency, smart bankable assets, crowd funding, platform governance, digital sovereignty, asset tracking and service access. Tokenized shareholders' equity benefits from its programmable smart contracts and the possibility to automate cash flows compared to traditional equity shares. In this thesis, past and current real blockchain businesses are analyzed, their financial relations are evaluated and success factors as well as profiting industries are recognized. With the highest potential, the service access use case and especially the software as a service (SaaS) industry are identified. Finally, an implementation concept for a tokenized company will be elaborated and the profit based on saved administrative costs will be estimated.
