Teaching of civics through the eyes of pupils of selected elementary schools and multi-year grammar schools

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je zjistit pohled žáků základních škol a nižších ročníků víceletých gymnázií na předmět občanská výchova a na jeho případné rozdíly podle typu školy. Konkrétně na její důležitost, oblíbenost, průběh výuky a praktického využití poznatků v reálném životě. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části. Teoretická část se věnuje historii občanské výchovy a jejímu postavení v současném českém kurikulu. Teoretickým východiskem pro druhou, empirickou část práce jsou především údaje z mezinárodních výzkumů dané oblasti a z českých výzkumů vysokoškolských studentů. Značná pozornost je věnovaná výuce občanské výchovy, metodám práce, využití médií a hodnocení předmětu. V praktické části práce je popsán výzkumný proces a dále jsou zde interpretovány výsledky z dotazníků respondentů základních škol a gymnázií, včetně jejich porovnání. Závěr práce obsahuje odpovědi na výzkumné otázky.

Abstract:

The goal of the thesis is to determine a point of view from primary and perennial grammar school students on the subject of civic education and possible differences between the types of schools. Specifically on its importance, popularity, course of teaching and practical use of its knowledge in real life. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part deals with the history of civic education and its position in current Czech educational curriculum. The theoretical basis of the second, empirical, part of the work is mainly a collection of data from international research and Czech university students. Considerable attention focuses on the teaching of civics, methods of work, use of media and evaluation of the subject. The practical part of the work describes the process of research and interpretation of the questionnaire results taken from respondents from primary and grammar schools which also includes a comparison. The answers of the research questions are included in the end of the thesis.
