Monetary Policy of the Central Bank

Abstract:

Anotace Práce je zaměřena na problematiku centrálního bankovnictví. V první části zabývá pojmem centrálního bankovnictví a jeho vývojem na našem území. Následuje definice a stručný popis hlavních funkcí centrální banky, mezi které patří: emise hotovostních bankovek a mincí, měnová politika, devizová činnost, regulace a dohled nad bankovním systémem, funkce banky státu, banky bank a reprezentace státu v měnové oblasti. Podrobnější výklad je věnován měnové politice – regulaci množství peněz v ekonomice za určitými cíli – např. cenová stabilita. Při jeho realizaci má centrální banka na výběr z několika možných režimů měnové politiky. Čtyři základní typy těchto režimů jsou: režim s implicitní nominální kotvou, cílování peněžní zásoby, cílování měnového kurzu a cílování inflace. Budoucí směřování měnové politiky má jasný cíl. Tím je přijetí společné evropské měny, eura.

Abstract:

Annotation The central issue of this written work is central banking. The opening chapter deals with the notion of central banking and its evolution in our country. The work continues with definition and brief description of main functions of central banks including: emission of paper currency and coins, monetary policy, operations with foreign exchange, regulation and supervision of banking system, functioning as the bank of the state and as the bank of banks; and representing state in the monetary area. The monetary policy is then discussed in the greater detail – regulation of volume of cash in the economy and its goals – e.g. price stability. When trying to reach the price stability goal, the central bank can choose from several monetary policy regime options. The four basic types of these regimes are: regime with an implicit nominal anchor, monetary stock targeting, exchange rate targeting and inflation targeting. The prospective direction of the monetary policy has a clear goal: introduction of EURO, the common European currency.
