Study of mechanical properties of UV curable systems

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce bylo studium mechanických vlastností UV zářením tvrditelných systémů. V teoretické části je popsán proces fotopolymerace a rozdělení systémů vytvrzovaných účinkem UV záření (radikálová, kationtová a hybridní polymerace). Další část je věnována problematice hodnocení mechanických vlastností tenkých polymerních vrstev, jako jsou tiskové barvy a laky. V experimentální části byl sledován stupeň dosažené konverze UV zářením vytvrzovaných systémů pomocí infračervené spektroskopie s Fourierovou transformací. Dále byly hodnoceny a porovnávány mechanické vlastnosti samotných radikálově a kationtově polymerujících systémů se systémy hybridními. Byl zjišťován vliv různého zastoupení radikálově a kationtově polymerujícího pojiva na stupeň dosažené konverze a výsledné mechanické vlastnosti vytvrzeného hybridního filmu. Vytvrzované systémy zkoumané v této práci obsahovaly pouze monomer a fotoiniciátor. Byly použity pojiva pentaerythritol triakrylát a Uvacure? 1500 (monomer epoxidového typu). Pro iniciaci polymerace byl použit radikálový fotoiniciátor Darocure? 1173 a kationtový fotoiniciátor Irgacure? 250. Z naměřených výsledků vyplývá, že dosažený celkový stupeň konverze vzrůstá se zvyšujícím se podílem epoxidového pojiva v hybridní směsi. Také bylo zjištěno, že se vzrůstajícím podílem kationtově polymerujícího pojiva roste pružnost a přilnavost vytvrzeného filmu k různým materiálům (kov, sklo). Abstract:

The aim of this thesis was to study the mechanical properties of UV curable systems. The theoretical part describes the process of photo polymerization and separation of systems stiffen by the effects of UV radiation (radical, cationic and hybrid polymerization). The next section is devoted to the evaluation of the mechanical properties of thin polymer films, such as printing inks and varnishes. In the experimental part was monitored the degree of conversion of UV - curing systems using infrared Fourier transformation spectroscopy. There were evaluated and compared the mechanical properties of radically and cationicaly polymerizing systems with hybrid systems. It was investigated the influence of various proportions of radical and cationic components on the degree of conversion and mechanical properties of the cured hybrid film. It was used pentaerythritol triacrylate binder and Uvacure? 1500 (epoxy type of monomer). To initiate polymerization it was applied the radical photoinitiator Darocure? 1173, and a cationic photoinitiator, Irgacure? 250. The measured results show that overall achived degree of conversion is increasing with increasing amount of epoxy binder in hybrid mixture. It was found as well that increasing participation of cationally polymerizing binder is increasing the flexibility and adhesion of stiffen layer on miscellaneous materials (metal, glass).
