This graduate thesis deals with comparison of two literary works, namely "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" by J.K. Rowling and "The Worst Witch" by Jill Murphy. The theoretical part deals with comparison of both works with respect to the settings, characters and plot. The research was divided into two parts. Tato diplomová práce se zabývá srovnáním díla " Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" od J.K. Rowling s dílem "The Worst Witch" od Jill Murphy. Teoretická část se zabývá porovnáním výše zmíněných děl s ohledem na jejich dějiště, postavy a zápletku. Praktická část byla rozdělena na dvě části.
