Abstract:

This graduate thesis deals with comparison of two literary works, namely "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" by J.K. Rowling and "The Worst Witch" by Jill Murphy. The theoretical part deals with comparison of both works with respect to the settings, characters and plot. The research was divided into two parts. The aim of the first part was to find out students' familiarity with both the works and their authors.The aim of the second part of the research was to find out what students like and dislike about main protagonists of given works. The results are demonstrated in graphs/tables and interpreted in text.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá srovnáním díla " Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" od J.K. Rowling s dílem "The Worst Witch" od Jill Murphy. Teoretická část se zabývá porovnáním výše zmíněných děl s ohledem na jejich dějiště, postavy a zápletku. Praktická část byla rozdělena na dvě části. Cílem první části bylo zjistit, kolik studentů je obeznámeno s dílem " Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", a kolik z nich je obeznámeno s dílem "The Worst Witch". Cílem druhé části bylo zjistit, co se studentům líbí a nelíbí na dvou hlavních postavách, kterými jsou Harry Potter a Mildred Hubble. Výsledky obou částí byly zaznamenány v grafech/tabulkách a okomentovány.
